Teacher Next Door
Designed to assist credentialed teachers purchase HUD designated homes in low and
moderate-income neighborhoods.
Programs/Products Offered
- 50% discount on list price of certain HUD homes
- Eligible properties are single-family homes, condominiums, and townhouses
- Homes may be purchased directly from HUD without the use of a broker
- A required second mortgage and loan on the discounted amount
- Second mortgage will end after the required 3-year occupancy period
- No interest or payments are required if this occupancy period is met
- Available FHA insured mortgage with a down payment of only $100
Requirements
- You must be employed full-time by a public school, private school,
or federal, state, county, or municipal educational agency as a
state-certified classroom teacher or administrator in grades K-12.
- Teachers may only
purchase homes located within the boundaries of their school system.
- You must agree to live in your HUD home as your only residence for
a minimum of 3 years after you move in.
- You cannot own any other residential property at the time of TND
closing.
